Joe Datuin
Joe Datuin (b. May 7, 1956, Pangasinan, Philippines) is a nominee for the Order of the National Artists of the Philippines in 2018.
In 2008, he brought immense pride to the nation by winning the Grand Prize from the International Olympic Committee’s Sport and Art Contest of the Beijing Olympics. With this extraordinary achievement, he was commissioned by the National Parks Development Committee to create a monumental replica for the Rizal Park in Luneta along with other sculptures and murals.
His winning was also recognized by the City Government of Manila through the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan for Sculpture Award in 2010 and by the National Commission for Culture and Arts through the Ani ng Dangal Awards in 2009.
JOE is a Benavides and TOTAL Awardee at the University of Santo Tomas where he studied Fine Arts. During the the UST’s Quadricentennial year in 2010, he was invited to represent the university alongside renowned Thomasians and Filipino sculptors Ramon Orlina and Eduardo Castrillo.
His works have been shown in both local and international venues in Asia, North America, and Europe in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Joe has also participated in major international art festivals such as the XI Florence Biennale in Italy and the Anima Mundi Artfest during the 57th Venice Biennale, also in Italy in 2017.
